Lucid ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Your quit date, usage history, weekly spend estimate, and quit reason — entered during onboarding
- Journal entries and mood data you write in the app
- Symptom check-ins (sleep quality, anxiety, irritability, brain fog, craving intensity)
- Craving logs (intensity, trigger, outcome)
- Messages sent to the AI Recovery Coach
Information collected automatically:
- Subscription status (via Apple's StoreKit 2 framework — we do not store payment card details)
- Crash logs and diagnostic data (via Apple's standard crash reporting — no personally identifiable information)
2. How We Use Your Information
- Recovery tracking: Your quit date, usage history, and symptom data are used to calculate your sobriety streak, withdrawal forecast, and recovery milestones — all processed on your device.
- AI Coach: When you send a message to the AI Recovery Coach, your message and relevant recovery context (days sober, recent symptoms, journal themes) are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a personalized response. This data is transmitted securely and is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share this data with any other third parties.
- iCloud Sync: If you enable iCloud, your recovery data may be synced across your Apple devices via Apple's CloudKit service, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Notifications: If you enable reminders, notification preferences are stored locally on your device.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your recovery data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If iCloud sync is enabled, data is stored in your personal iCloud account. We do not operate independent servers that store your personal recovery data.
Messages sent to the AI Coach are transmitted over HTTPS. We retain logs only as required to operate and improve the service, in accordance with Anthropic's data retention policies.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers. The only third-party service that receives data from Lucid is Anthropic (for AI Coach functionality), and only when you actively send a message.
5. Children's Privacy
Lucid is rated 17+ on the App Store due to references to substance use. We do not knowingly collect information from users under 17. If you believe a minor has provided personal information through this app, please contact us so we can delete it.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Delete your data: You can delete all app data at any time from Settings → Reset All Data. This permanently removes all local data including journal entries, symptom logs, and recovery history.
- Disable iCloud sync: You can turn off iCloud sync for Lucid in your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → iCloud.
- Notifications: You can disable or modify notifications in Settings → Notifications → Lucid, or within the app.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will update the date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
